Hit the Gym To Lose Inches Off Your Waistline

Why do people who are in a diet program always hit the weighing scales?

Well for a start, it is a good motivation.  Knowing that you have lost a couple of pounds is a great achievement.  But have you ever thought of sticking with your diet plans but forgetting how much you weigh?

I went to a fitness club to lose weight safely.  During the intake process, the trainer pinched my abs.  She told me, if I want to be fit, I need to lose 5 inches!  Geez!  That is a big leap for me.

After a while of doing the fitness program, I realized, she is right.  To lose weight, one should not only depend on the weighing scales.  Hit for the inches that you have dropped.   You might be surprise on its result.

Professionals call this the pinch test.  They use a special calliper to do this.  But if you do not have this, an alternative is to use a simple ruler.  Just pick up a lump of your flesh between your thumb and forefinger and see how much space it takes up.  Just make sure that you do this test on the same area of your body.   Fat deposits vary from site to site around your body.

When you use your thumb and forefinger for this test you are, you are picking up two layers of skin and two layers of fat. So, in order to get an idea of the thickness of your body fat at that particular point on your body you have only to halve the distance between your thumb and your forefinger.

The best area to do this test is probably the triceps muscle at the back of your upper arm.  But you can try this test on your waist, thighs and abdomen.  If you can pinch more than an inch then you need to lose weight!
